The design brief was for a cat that could deal with the long windward beat from Cabo San Lucas to Vancouver which the owner planned to navigate possibly every year at the end of the charter season. He suggested fixed keels on relatively fine hulls and I agreed as long as keel draft was not going to be a major concern. 

Maraya was the design that got the ball rolling for the other models in the series. The styling and the layout of Maraya was the inspiration for the commissioning of the Marliese design and the production version of Maniche now known as Oasis 72.

Maraya can be fitted with high aspect fixed keels as shown, daggerboards, or minimal draught fin keels.

A number of layout options are available including the beach house  layout which combines the saloon and cockpit into one big open space.
